five Adele remixes

After collecting not just awards but also the praise and adulation reserved for the ‘untouchable’ phase of a big celebrity’s career path, Adele has over the last year taken up the role of the UK’s biggest pop superstar. Like pop vocalists before her such as Ellie Goulding, her songs have been popular in remixes, and here are five of the best.

Rolling In The Deep (Jamie xx Shuffle)

Jamie xx also had an incredible 2011, party due to this remix. Its bizarre masculine voice and subtley catchy backbeat have allowed him to work his own distinct style into this track so that he actually outshines Adele herself.

Hometown Glory (High Contrast remix)

This remix retains nostalgia and a touch of pensive melancholy, but turns the pop song into a fast-paced d’n’b track.

Rizzle Kicks – My Hometown

This was from Rizzle Kicks’ Minor Breaches of Discipline album, way before the commercial success of late. The same song as above is turned into a backing for a more mellow rap (“I don’t feel the need to rhyme dark, even if it’s been in my past” and “I heard this track and I found myself, gazing in the distance”).

Rolling In The Deep (Villa Remix)

Compared to the Jamie xx version, this is a more upbeat, dancey remix.

Set Fire To The Rain (Thomas Gold Remix)

Set Fire To The Rain is a less well-known Adele song, but still familiar enough for a remix of it to get over 12 million views on YouTube.
